Sitting is the New Smoking

As we get older it is only natural that our joint's, muscles, tendons, etc. all start to get tighter and lose some of their elasticity. Our human species was not meant to sit at a desk for 6-8 hours a day. Sitting has literally become the new smoking. It is imperative if you are stuck sitting that you get up every 15-20 minutes and walk around a bit, bend over and stretch, maybe do some squats. It won't hurt to work in some yoga into your life!

Dr. Kelly Starrett offers offers a detailed battle plan for surviving the chair and reclaiming your birthright of mobility and freedom from pain in Deskbound: Sitting is the New Smoking
